The College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University (GMU), in collaboration with its esteemed industry partners Shofu and Truemed, successfully organized a comprehensive workshop titled “Secrets Behind Naturally Looking Anterior Direct Restorations” for dental interns on the 24th of October 2025. The workshop, conducted by Dr. Ahmed El-Sayed, featured a combination of interactive lectures, live demonstrations, and a hands-on training session, offering participants a scientific and practical understanding of achieving aesthetically pleasing anterior restorations.
The academic sessions began with two in-depth lectures: Lecture I: Light, Color, Form, Texture & Customization Concept, focusing on the fundamental optical and morphological parameters influencing natural aesthetics in direct composite restorations whereas, Lecture II focused on Class III and Class IV clinical protocols, outlining step-by-step techniques for shade selection, layering strategies, and finishing protocols to replicate the natural tooth structure.
This was followed by live demonstrations illustrating the use of silicone indices and Class III restoration techniques, translating theoretical knowledge into clinical skill. Lastly, the hands-on workshop allowed participants to perform Class III restorations with palatal shelf techniques and Class IV restorations, emphasizing composite layering, contouring, and surface texturing to achieve lifelike outcomes.
The workshop provided an enriching platform for participants to explore cutting-edge restorative materials, tools, and evidence-based techniques aligned with global best practices in esthetic dentistry.
