Dr. Pooja Narain Adtani, Associate Dean Academics, College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University, presented a research titled “From Posts to Professionalism: Impact of a Digital Professionalism Module on Knowledge, Attitudes, and Behaviour Among Dental Interns in a UAE Dental Institute” at the Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) Annual Scholarship Meeting 2026, on the 2nd of July 2026 at the East side Conference Rooms, Birmingham, UK. The annual conference, themed “Beyond Boundaries: Innovation, Inclusion and Impact in Health Professions Education”.
The study evaluated the impact of a structured Digital Professionalism Module on dental interns’ understanding of ethical social media use, professional identity formation, and responsible online behaviour. Using a mixed-methods, quasi-experimental design, the research demonstrated that targeted educational interventions significantly enhanced interns’ awareness of digital professionalism and their ability to maintain professional boundaries in the online environment. The work contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the integration of digital professionalism into health professions education, particularly within the UAE and Gulf region.
