The College of Dentistry (CoD), Gulf Medical University (GMU), organized a Career Advising Session titled “Working as a Dentist in Germany: Pathway, Licensing, and Career Insights” on the 28th of January 2026. The session was delivered by Dr. Jameela Abdul Haq, Senior Lecturer in Preventive & Pediatric Dentistry, CoD, GMU.
The session provided students with a comprehensive overview of the professional pathway for dentists seeking to practice in Germany. Key areas covered included the licensing process (Approbation pathway), recognition of foreign dental qualifications, language proficiency requirements, required documentation, and procedural steps involved in registration with German authorities.
Dr. Jameela also discussed career opportunities, clinical training prospects, and the structure of the German healthcare system, offering practical guidance on adapting to professional and cultural expectations in an international healthcare environment. The interactive discussion enabled participants to gain clarity on academic and professional preparation, helping them make informed decisions about pursuing dental careers abroad.
