The Student Happiness Center, College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University, organized a series of Leadership Program sessions for BDS Year 1 students to strengthen their professional growth and leadership capabilities.
The sessions were conducted by Dr. Nermin Kamal Mahmoud, Specialist and Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry, and a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Ericksonian Hypnosis.
The first session, titled “Communicating with Impact: A Core Leadership Skill,” held on the 29th of September 2025, focused on the importance of effective communication as a cornerstone of leadership. Dr. Nermin drew upon established psychological frameworks such as the Social Learning Theory, highlighting how students can develop leadership behaviors through observation and practice. She further linked these concepts to transformational leadership, emphasizing how vision, trust, and personal growth empower individuals to inspire and motivate others.

The second session, titled “Mastering Time: Core Competency in Leadership Effectiveness,” held on the 6th of November 2025, emphasized time management as a vital leadership skill. Students explored practical strategies to balance academic and personal priorities, enhance productivity, and cultivate accountability traits essential for effective leadership in healthcare.
The sessions helped students develop early leadership skills, preparing them to work effectively in teams and grow as future dental professionals.
