College of Dentistry and College of Healthcare Management and Economics, GMU organized a guest lecture on ‘Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare – Preparing for the Future’ for students and faculty in collaboration with Prognica, an AI powered healthtech company. The guest lecture was delivered by Dr.Sreelekshhmi Bekal, Medical Director, Prognica Labs/IntelliDent AI, Dubai. The lecture provided an overview about AI, described the differences between the key concepts of machine learning and deep learning, and the various applications of AI in the healthcare industry. The session also highlighted the advantages of AI such as reduced rates of misdiagnosis, automated second opinions and expedited early interventions concluding AI to be a ‘tool’ rather than a ‘threat’ to mankind.
