The College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University (GMU) successfully conducted the thesis defense of Dr. Abdullah Alwaisi, a postgraduate student in the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in Periodontics program, on the 11th of June 2026. His research, titled “Qualitative and Quantitative Assessment of Marginal Bone Loss Following Flapless Guided versus Conventional Implant Placement Using CBCT,” explored radiographic changes associated with different implant placement techniques using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). The research contributes to the growing body of evidence aimed at optimizing implant treatment outcomes and preserving peri-implant bone health.
The thesis was supervised by Dr. Bhavna Jha Kukreja, Program Director, MDS Periodontics Program, with co-supervisors Dr. Mohamed Atef, Assistant Professor of Periodontology, and Dr. Diaaeldin Saad Awad Farag, Associate Professor of Fixed Prosthodontics. The examination panel included Dr. Betul Rahman, Associate Professor of Periodontology, College of Dental Medicine, University of Sharjah, as the External Examiner, and Dr. Yahya Amer, Assistant Professor of Periodontology, Department of Preventive Dental Sciences, as the Internal Examiner.
