Dr. Kim is currently working as a consultant physician of anatomic pathology in Department of Pathology, Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital (SKSH), The Medical Office, Ministry of Presidential Affairs, in Ras Al Khaima, United Arab Emirates. His lifetime interests are a surgical pathology, molecular pathology, clinical trial, research and hospital management. He graduated from College of Medicine, Seoul National University (SNU) in 1998 and completed a training program in anatomic pathology at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) in 2003.
He had diverse experiences in many fields including serving as a pathologist and researcher in Armed Forces Hospital, Korea, clinical professor at SNUH, Korea and Gacheon University Hospital, Korea, director of molecular pathology at GC Labs, Korea and Head of Division of Imaging and Laboratory, and deputy Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital, UAE. His research interests are diverse including renal pathology, immunology and immunopathology, serum biomarker discovery and development, business development, molecular pathology of solid tumor and machine learning algorithm which can be found throughout more than 20 international publications and 2 international patents.
He has also experience in leading a project, centralized HER-2 retesting program, in Korea and directing central molecular laboratory in a global clinical trial of lung cancer with ROS1 translocation. He also has experience in commissioning of a 240-bed hospital as deputy CMO, establishing pathology laboratory in SKSH. His current main interest is surgical pathology and establishing molecular pathology test using next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology.
